Last August, Prof. Gianesini was elected congress convener for the World Meeting of Phlebology and Lymphology, to be held in Miami in 2023.
The election was decided by the General Assembly of all the major scientific societies dedicated to venous and lymphatic disease, representing every continent.
Proposed as president by the American Vein & Lymphatic Society, Gianesini chose instead to eliminate the role of president, creating for the first time in the history of the world phlebo-lymphology society a continental synergy that also brought in representatives from Mexico and Canada, thus placing the whole of North America at the head of the 2023 world congress.
