On 17 November, Gianesini was invited to deliver four lectures at the New York Vascular Surgery Congress. Among the topics presented was the recent discovery made by Gianesini and his associated team of researchers concerning the presence of a receptor within the vessels involved in translating haemodynamic flow into an inflammatory signal. Gianesini also presented the strategy of treating varicose veins without removing the saphenous vein, but rather through targeted treatment of specific points of the venous system affected by disease.
